PPP laboratory at Silampur Rural Hospital reopens, bringing relief to the people of Kaliachak area

Kaliachak:
After being closed for nearly ten months, the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) laboratory at Silampur Rural Hospital has reopened. On Saturday, the laboratory doors were opened again following instructions from the health department. The reopening of the laboratory has brought a sigh of relief to the common people of Kaliachak and surrounding areas.
It is learned that in March 2025, the PPP laboratory was sealed by order of the district health department due to some technical issues. Finally, after all the procedures were completed, the services have resumed. Through this laboratory, which is run in a joint venture with the Government of West Bengal, common people are getting the opportunity to get various important tests done at a very low cost.  Blood tests necessary for pregnant women are being done completely free of charge.  Special discounts are also available for other diagnostic tests.
In the laboratory, sugar tests are being done for Rs. 15, platelet count for Rs. 20, blood group test for Rs. 20, stool and urine tests for Rs. 10, liver function test for Rs. 100, and uric acid test for Rs. 15. As Silampur Rural Hospital is located at the center of three blocks of Kaliachak, approximately two thousand patients visit the hospital for treatment every day.  ​​Therefore, local residents believe that the reopening of the PPP laboratory will significantly reduce the hassle of patients having to go elsewhere for expensive tests.
In this regard, the hospital's BMOH, Mustafizur Rahman, said that with the reopening of the laboratory, the general public will receive services at low cost as before and will benefit greatly.
